Photos by Holly Allen – Autumn Adams shows off her 74th annual summer show badge as she tries to keep cool during Friday’s parade of tractors. She is the daughter of Trisha and Shane Adams, Topeka, and came to the summer show with her granddad, Richard Bullard, Eskridge, who passed by the threshing grounds for 35 years before deciding to stop for the first time last year to see what all the fuss was about.
More than 1,100 people, including 133 veterans who got in for free, took in the annual summer
threshing show at the Meriden Antique Engine and Threshers Association grounds July 14-17.
Temperatures in excess of 100 degrees Friday gave way to overnight rains Sunday, which led to
the canceling of some of the usual events due to a wet dirt track. Treasurer Kerril Bauerly reports
96 hooks for the antique tractor pull (the sled broke with five to go), 96 hooks for the garden tractor
pull Friday, and 87 Saturday. Sunday’s pull was rained out.
